The Obuasi East Municipal Assembly has organized a two-day training workshop on the e-procurement system to enhance procurement processes and strengthen accountability within the Assembly. The training, which took place on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th August 2025, brought together staff from key departments including Procurement, Stores and Supply, Internal Audit Unit, MIS, Planning, Accounts and Finance, Budget, Works and Physical Planning Unit.
Training led by Mr. Tanko, the sessions provided participants with comprehensive knowledge of the procurement process while introducing them to the practical use of the online e-procurement platform. The first day focused on the general framework of procurement activities, while the second day delved into technical aspects of the Procurement Act and hands-on exercises that allowed staff to navigate the digital platform with confidence.
The initiative was aimed at streamlining procurement operations, reducing paperwork, and ensuring that processes are carried out more efficiently and transparently. It also sought to build the capacity of staff to effectively adopt new technologies that will improve service delivery within the Assembly.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Eric Aboagye-Mensah, in his address commended participants for their commitment and highlighted the importance of adopting technology-driven solutions in public service. He urged staff to apply the knowledge gained to promote efficiency, accountability, and good governance in the municipality.
The Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has demonstrated a consistent commitment to capacity building and innovation. The introduction of the e-procurement system is part of broader efforts by government to digitize public services, improve transparency, and reduce inefficiencies in local governance.
The training concluded with renewed confidence among staff to embrace the digital shift in procurement processes, marking another step forward in the Assembly’s drive towards modern, transparent, and efficient governance.
