The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has disclosed that the Assembly is set to construct an ultra-modern office complex at Pomposo to house both the Municipal Education and Health Directorates.
Hon. Adzowu announced this during his sessional address at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Third Assembly, held at the Old Court Building in Wawasi.
According to the MCE, the project is part of the Assembly’s strategic commitment to improving institutional efficiency and enhancing public service delivery across the municipality. He noted that persistent accommodation challenges have long hindered the operations of these two vital directorates, highlighting the urgent need for a dedicated, modern facility.
For years, the lack of centralized infrastructure has strained administrative operations. Education and health serve as the twin pillars of any thriving community; yet, the institutions tasked with driving them have routinely had to operate from cramped and dispersed spaces.
“The project will enable both directorates to operate from a fitting environment and vastly improve productivity,” Hon. Adzowu stated.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructure that directly enhances the well-being of residents, adding that leadership will continue investing in projects that drive sustainable development throughout Obuasi East.
The sessional address also highlighted several other development interventions aimed at accelerating local economic growth:
Bus Acquisition
To strengthen administrative oversight, project monitoring, and community outreach, the Assembly has officially procured a new 30-seater Coaster bus.
This addition to the municipal fleet directly addresses key operational needs by supporting:
Operational Efficiency: Facilitating field trips for technical teams, Assembly members, and department heads to conduct routine inspections across electoral areas.
Staff Welfare & Coordination: Providing reliable transport for personnel attending regional workshops, official functions, and inter-agency stakeholder meetings.
Community Engagement: Streamlining the mobilization of staff and resources for public durbars, educational drives, and community outreach programs.
Administrative Block Progress
Coordinating the Assembly’s various departments and units within a constrained space has long posed a challenge, but that obstacle is nearly resolved. Under the government’s initiative to complete key development projects, construction of the state-of-the-art administrative block has reached 85% completion.
Once fully operational, the facility will provide a modern, conducive, and centralized workspace, eliminating logistical bottlenecks and encouraging seamless inter-departmental collaboration.
“I wish to inform the House that the procurement process for furnishing the new Administration Block is nearly complete. The Assembly is taking all necessary steps to furnish and prepare the facility for occupation,” Hon. Adzowu noted.
Revenue Mobilization & Transparency
Addressing the municipality’s financial standing, Hon. Adzowu provided a transparent update on local revenue generation.
Against an approved target of GH₵3,348,883.29, the Assembly has successfully mobilized GH₵2,913,528.46—representing an impressive 87% performance rate. Achieving this milestone in a challenging economic climate reflects both robust administrative strategies and strong civic engagement among local residents.
However, the MCE emphasized that efforts will not slow down. “Management is working hard to rake in additional revenue to meet the developmental aspirations of the people of Obuasi East,” he assured the House.
Concluding his address, Hon. Adzowu pledged that management remains fully committed to the responsible and transparent management of public funds, ensuring that every pesewa spent delivers tangible value for the community.
