Obuasi East MCE Visits Key Businesses to Forge Public-Private Partnership for Growth

In a direct effort to stimulate local economic development, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, embarked on a working visit to some business establishments within the municipality to assess their operations and discuss avenues for collaborative growth on Friday, September 26, 2025.

The visit, a central part of the MCE’s strategic agenda to cultivate a strong public-private partnership, aimed to assess business operations, discuss collaborative growth, and address challenges facing industries in the municipality

The MCE and his delegation toured a cross-section of establishments, including Aduroye Herbal Limited and KESMENS Enterprise.

At Aduroye Herbal, the manufacturers of popular products such as Obuasi Bitters and Obuasi 4-4-2 Ginger Liquor, Hon. Adzowu toured the processing plant and commended the management for their commitment to adding value to local herbal produce. Following discussions on raw material supply chain challenges, the MCE assured the company of the Assembly’s support in facilitating better linkages with local farmers.

The team also visited KESMENS Enterprise, which specializes in food processing products like KESMENS Tom Brown, gari mix, and powdered pepper. Here, the MCE pledged to immediately address the critical need for improved road infrastructure around their production area to facilitate smooth transportation. He further promised to engage with local Senior High Schools to explore having them procure KESMENS products for student feeding programs.

Commitment to Sustainable Growth
Hon. Adzowu emphasized his administration’s focus on sustainable enterprise, stating, “My administration is committed to supporting businesses that not only generate revenue but also create employment and prioritize sustainable environmental management.”

In a post-tour interview, MCE Adzowu expressed satisfaction with the insights gained. “The purpose of this visit was to listen, not just inspect. We have gained crucial insights directly from the business owners,” he stated. “The Municipal Assembly will now work diligently to create a more enabling environment for businesses to thrive, which is the bedrock for job creation and development in our municipality.”

The MCE also affirmed his plan to ensure these companies benefit from the government’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, which would enable them to employ more workers and foster a conducive operating environment.

Business Leaders Express Appreciation
Business owners voiced their appreciation for the direct engagement.

Dr. Amo Collins, CEO of Aduroye Herbal, stated: “We are truly appreciative that the Municipal Chief
Executive has taken the time out of his busy schedule to witness our operation firsthand. This
level of engagement is encouraging and gives us confidence that our concerns will be heard at the
highest level.”

Kingsley Asare, Manager for KESMENS Enterprise, lauded the MCE’s approach, noting: “This visit is
not the usual cycle of formal letters and meetings. Having the MCE on our factory floor allows him
to understand our specific needs. We are very thankful for this direct engagement.” Mr. Asare took
the opportunity to appeal for stable economic conditions and government funding support.

Hon. Adzowu in his closing remarks gave the assurance that all concerns raised, particularly regarding regulatory processes, road networks, and access to funding, would be given urgent attention by the Assembly.

The MCE was accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Richard Blevi, and other key staff members of the Assembly.
