BOSSMAN Odikro Commends President And MCE On Successful Sanitation Day

The Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, led by Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, successfully marked the October edition of the National Sanitation Day on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Bossman Community. The exercise, which started at 6:00 a.m., saw active participation from Nananoom, residents, assembly members, traders, and youth groups who joined hands to clean public spaces, markets, drains, and streets.

The Odikro of Bossman, Nana Abu Bonsra, lauded H.E. John Mahama, President of the Republic, for introducing the National Sanitation Day initiative, describing it as a lasting legacy that promotes cleanliness and environmental consciousness across Ghana. He also commended the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, for his personal involvement and leadership during the cleanup.

“A clean environment is the bedrock of public health and development. We, the people of Bossman, are grateful to the President for championing this national cause, which reflects a strong commitment to citizens’ well-being,” said Nana Abu Bonsra.

He further praised the MCE’s hands-on participation, noting that his presence and logistical support inspired the community.

“Hon. Adzowu’s active involvement showed that the Assembly is in touch with the grassroots. We deeply appreciate his leadership and the provision of tools that made the exercise a success,” he added.

During the exercise, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu joined residents in the cleanup activities and later commended the community for their dedication to keeping Bossman clean. He emphasized that maintaining proper sanitation not only promotes good health but also attracts development.

The MCE urged residents to sustain the culture of cleanliness beyond the monthly exercise and to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse. He assured them that the Assembly would continue to provide the necessary logistics and support for future sanitation activities.

Following the cleanup, Hon. Adzowu toured parts of the community with opinion leaders to assess local challenges. He pledged to address drainage problems in the area as part of the Assembly’s ongoing development efforts.

The exercise focused on desilting choked drains, clearing overgrown weeds, and collecting refuse from public spaces and markets. These efforts are expected to reduce health risks associated with poor sanitation, particularly as the rainy season approaches.
