s Overwhelming Endorsement, Calls For Stakeholders Support
The Assembly Hall of the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly was thrown into frenzy after Assembly Members overwhelmingly endorsed the President’s nominee Hon. Adzowu Kofi William as the Municipal Chief Executive for the Area.
Honourable Adzowu Kofi William polled 28 out of 28 votes that were cast on Thursday 15th March, 2025 which represents 100% of the total votes cast in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.
Before the Municipal Chief Executive confirmation, the Assembly members also endorsed Hon. Alfred Fosu Donkor as the Presiding Member of the Assembly after his only contender Hon. Jibrine Jalil stepped down after one unsuccessful attempt to elect a Presiding Member.
Hon. Nii Lante Vandapuye who is the National DRIP Coordinator seized the opportunity to appeal to the Assembly Members to put their differences aside and rally behind the Municipal Chief Executive and the Presiding Member for the betterment of the Assembly.
In his acceptance speech, the newly confirmed MCE for Obuasi East, Hon. Adzowu Kofi Williams thanked the President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for the great opportunity offered him to serve the people of Obuasi East. He also thanked Nananom and the Assembly Members for their massive and profound support and was quick to add that this is a victory for unity.
Hon. Adzowu assured the people of Obuasi East that he will not rest on his oars but will work diligently specifically to tackle the rehabilitation of inner roads in the Municipality, the successful completion of the Administration Block for the Assembly, relocation of Timber Market to Boete Senet and to create another alternative road in the Municipality to ease traffic conjunction for smooth vehicular movement and many others.
