The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi East, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has toured some schools in the Municipality to welcome newly admitted kindergarten (KG) pupils as part of activities by the Assembly to observe “My First Day at School”, as they begin their academic journey.
Accompanied by the Municipal Director of Education, Kwabena Owusu Nketia, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Richard Blevi, and a dedicated team from the Education Directorate and Assembly staff, the MCE embarked on a vibrant tour across several basic schools. Among the stops were Mampamhwe M/A School, Domeabra KG School, and Diawoso M/A School, where the delegation was met with wide eyes, and the cheerful bustle of kindergarten classrooms.
Stepping into the classrooms, Hon. Adzowu immediately traded formal administrative etiquette for warmth and fatherly encouragement. Sitting on tiny wooden chair and crouching to match the eye level of the toddlers, he turned initial classroom nervousness into beaming smiles.
“Education is the greatest tool you will ever be given,” Hon. Adzowu shared during an interactive session with the pupils. “Looking at your bright faces today, I don’t just see children in a classroom I see future doctors, engineers, teachers, and leaders of Obuasi East and Ghana. Focus on your studies, listen to your teachers, and dream big. We are here to support you every step of the way.”
Reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment, the MCE emphasized that education remains his top priority, promising continuous investments in learning infrastructure, teaching resources, and child welfare across the municipality. He admonished parents to enroll all school-going age children.
The highlight of the visit arrived when the delegation unpacked special welcome packages for every child. Tears turned to giggles as the pupil’s received books, pencils, fruit drinks, biscuits, and learning materials. For many children, holding their brand-new stationery transformed the intimidating idea of school into an exciting adventure.
The Municipal Director of Education, Kwabena Owusu Nketia, commended the Assembly’s proactive leadership, noting that strong collaboration between municipal authorities and local educators is essential for keeping enrollment high and ensuring quality early childhood development.
