Obuasi East: Deputy Minister Calls On District Assemblies To Build The Capacity Of Assembly Members

The role of Assembly members is crucial in strengthening the local government system. The local government system according to experts serves as the bedrock for development.
According to the Deputy Minister of Communication and Digitalization Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng who represented the President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to supervise the swearing-in of 30 Assembly Members in the Obuasi East District, building the capacity of Assembly members will enable them function effectively.
She implored the District Assembly to make conscious efforts to organize leadership training skills for Assembly Members. ” This I believe will equip the Assembly members with the requisite knowledge to deliver on the job”.
Jeff Adjei wins Presiding Member Election
Honorable Jeff Kwadwo Adjei Oware, a Government Appointee has been retained as the Presiding member for the third time. Hon Adjei who until now was the Assembly Member for the Akaporiso Electoral Area secured 26 out of the 29 total votes cast on the day after going unopposed.

Speaking with the Media after his victory, he thanked the Assembly members for once again reposing confidence in him stressing that the feet chalked was as a result of a dint of hard work.
He lauded the unity that exist among the Assembly members, prioritizing the interest of their respective electoral areas other than their own interest.
He said the Presiding Member position is crucial in the Assembly structures stressing that they are responsible for collaborating with the Assemblies to facilitate development.
He promised to leave no stone unturned in leading the Assembly members to lobby for development in their respective electoral areas.
The Chief Executive of the Obuasi East District Hon Faustina Amissah congratulated Jeff Agyei for his re-election stressing that he has demonstrated to be a competent Presiding Member of the Assembly who has led with distinction.
She however called on the newly sworn-in Assembly Members to work hard to complement the efforts of the Assembly at the various Electoral Areas.
“I want you to know that the task ahead of you is herculean but with some level of hard work, commitment and dedication, I am convinced you will all live up to expectations and bring development to your various communities”
His Lordship Kofi Owusu Sekyere of the Obuasi Magistrate Court led the swearing-in of the Assembly Members.
