The Chief Executive of the Obuasi East District Hon. Faustina Amissah joined the Member of Parliament for Obuasi East constituency Hon. Dr. Patrick Boakye-Yiadom to welcome new pupils to school on Tuesday 10th January, 2023.
This was to mark this year’s edition of My First Day at School. The event is held annually at the beginning of every academic year to welcome children who enter Kindergarten (KG) for the first time as well as those who join the mainstream school system at Basic One.
The purpose of the visit according to Hon. Faustina Amissah was to welcome fresh pupils attending school for the first time and to have firsthand information on enrollment and also to encourage them to develop interest in education.
The Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Patrick Boakye-Yiadom who expressed satisfaction with pupil’s enrolment and attendance on the first day encouraged parents to prioritize the education of their children.
The District Director of Education Kwabena Owusu Nketiah who was also part of the entourage was of the opinion that, the ‘My First Day at School’ event is an important program on the calendar of Ghana Education Service (GES) since it gives inspiration to new comers to value education.
The team visited Jimiso Methodist School, Len Clay Memorial School at Odumasi, Owusu Sempa Primary ‘B’ at Ahansonyewodea, Domeabra KG and Bossman KG.
They presented items ranging from pencils and sharpeners, crayons, erasers, my clear bag, fruit juice and biscuits to serve as motivation for the beginners, the DCE encouraged them to take their studies seriously and be punctual at school.
