Ashanti Regional Minister Lauds Obuasi East MCE Hon. William Kofi Adzowu

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene has lauded Hon. William Kofi Adzowu the Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi East for his hard work, dedication, and exemplary leadership in steering the municipality toward progressive growth.
The Ashanti Regional Minister paid a strategic working visit to the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly to assess ongoing development projects, engage key stakeholders, and reiterate the government’s commitment to transforming the municipality’s economic and educational landscape.
During his visit, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene held fruitful engagements with assembly staff, paid a courtesy call on the traditional leadership at the palace of Nana Bosompem Kitikyi Apenteng II, Krontihene of Dompoase and toured the facilities of Aduroyɛ Herbal Center the producers of Obuase Bitters, Obuase 4-4-2 ginger liquor, gringo bitters and other products.
Addressing the staff and stakeholders, the Regional Minister shared major policy updates aimed at elevating the municipality and the region at large.
Phasing Out Double-Track System: Dr. Amoakohene announced that the government is pooling all available resources to completely eliminate the double-track system in Senior High Schools by the year 2027.

Flagship 24-Hour Economy Market: Highlighting the government’s economic vision, the Minister revealed that the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly will soon cut sod for the construction of a modern market designed to support a 24-hour economy. This flagship project is expected to significantly boost local commerce and generate substantial employment.
Road Network Expansion: In a massive win for local infrastructure, the Minister disclosed that the municipality is set to benefit from a new 10-kilometer road construction project.

At the palace, Nana Bosompem Kitikyi Apenteng II warmly welcomed the Regional Minister, praising him for returning to show appreciation, a gesture he noted was rare among politicians’ post-election.
The traditional ruler also commended the MCE, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, for his decisive leadership in successfully relocating the Timber Market and overseeing the construction of the Boete alternative road. Affirming his unwavering support for the MCE, Nana Kitikyi Apenteng II further expressed gratitude to the President of Ghana for his consistent efforts in creating employment avenues for the youth.
However, the chief seized the opportunity to advocate for critical interventions, urging the Regional Minister to look into three pressing challenges:
The Municipal Assembly Complex: “The current office complex for the municipality is not befitting. I gave my own land to the previous government for the construction of a new office complex, and it has been at a standstill. What prevents your government from completing the project?” Nana Kitikyi II quizzed, urging the Minister to assist the MCE in completing the project.
Road Infrastructure: He noted that the deplorable state of the Abusco road remains a major headache and called for immediate government intervention.
⁠Boundary Disputes: He requested the Minister’s urgent intervention to permanently settle the ongoing demarcation issues between the two municipalities in Obuasi to ensure lasting peace and administrative clarity.
The working tour also took the Regional Minister to Aduroyɛ Herbal Centre, where he met with the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Amo Collins.
Dr. Amoakohene commended Dr. Amo Collins for his massive contributions to the Ghanaian economy and his impactful role in curbing youth unemployment through his enterprise. Following a guided tour of the company’s production facilities, the Regional Minister pledged the government’s robust support to help scale up the local business.
