In a major boost to educational infrastructure, the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly has officially handed over sites for five new GETFund-sponsored projects at Christ the King Senior High School (C.K.C). The handover ceremony was conducted in collaboration with the school’s headmaster and key officials from C.K.C.
The projects, which are fully funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), are designed to address critical accommodation and academic gaps that have challenged the institution due to rising student enrollment.
Before the formal site handover, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), along with a team of assembly engineers and five separate contractors, held a strategic meeting with the Headmaster and the school’s management team.
The group conducted a thorough site inspection and engaged in detailed deliberations to ensure the technical specifications of each project align with the school’s specific requests. This collaborative approach was aimed at ensuring that the new facilities—particularly the science laboratory and dormitories—are fit for purpose and meet the long-term needs of both students and staff. The projects encompass comprehensive infrastructure development across multiple areas of the school. A dedicated contractor will complete the girls’ dormitory to enhance safety and boarding capacity, while the boys’ dormitory will be developed to reduce congestion and provide comfortable housing for male students. The initiative includes construction of a modern science laboratory designed for practical STEM education, equipping students with essential tools for scientific research. Additionally, a new classroom block will serve as an academic wing to create more conducive learning environments and support smaller class sizes. Finally, contractors will secure the campus perimeter through the construction of a fence wall and gatehouse, which will improve both security measures and the school’s overall aesthetic appeal.
The MCE emphasized that these GETFund projects are a testament to the government’s commitment to educational excellence in the Obuasi East District. He urged the five contractors to maintain high standards of workmanship, noting that the Assembly and school authorities will provide strict oversight throughout the construction phase.
The Headmaster expressed profound appreciation for the intervention, stating that the five projects would significantly transform C.K.C. into a modern hub for academic and moral excellence.
