The Chief Executive of the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has called upon the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to uphold Obuasi’s stellar academic reputation. He emphasized the region’s consistent track record of producing outstanding BECE results over the years.
Hon. Adzowu made this appeal during a tour of BECE centers across the Municipality. He was accompanied by the Municipal Education Director, Kwabena Owusu Nketiah, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Eric Aboagye-Mensah, and other officials from the Obuasi East Education Directorate. The purpose of their visit was to observe the first day of examinations firsthand and to motivate the students.
Addressing the candidates, Hon. Adzowu stressed the importance of the examination, stating, “the excellence of your future begins today.” He urged them to take the BECE seriously as it represents the crucial first step toward a secure future, while also encouraging them to cast aside any examination-related anxiety. He further cautioned them against engaging in any form of examination malpractice, which could prematurely end their academic journey.
The Municipal Director of Education, Kwabena Owusu Nketiah, affirmed that the students were well-prepared for the examination. He highlighted that the Directorate, in collaboration with various stakeholders, had organized four mock examinations to adequately prepare the candidates. “We are optimistic that this has helped them familiarize themselves with the exam format and is sufficient to enable them to achieve excellent results,” he remarked. Mr. Nketiah also took the opportunity to advocate for the establishment of a model school in the Obuasi East Municipality, noting it as one of his most significant challenges.
A total of 2,030 candidates are sitting for the 2025 BECE in the Obuasi East Municipality across eight different centers. This comprises 961 boys and 1,069 girls, with 1,436 candidates from public schools and 594 from private institutions
