Obuasi East Agric Department Trains Farmers Ahead of “Nkoko Nketenkete” Poultry Distribution

The Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, through its dedicated Agricultural Department, has officially held a comprehensive training session for farmers set to receive the first batch of the Nkoko Nketenkete poultry initiative. This proactive program was designed to equip local farmers with the essential skills needed to manage their new livestock effectively before the birds even arrive on their farms.

During the training, veterinary officers from the Assembly provided practical, hands-on guidance on the technicalities of modern poultry farming. The officers focused heavily on biosecurity, teaching the farmers the best methods to disinfect their coops and properly prepare the housing environment to receive the young birds. By emphasizing sanitation and preventative measures, the veterinary team aimed to ensure that every farmer is capable of preventing disease outbreaks that often hinder small-scale poultry ventures.

Speaking at the session, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, encouraged the participants to see this as more than just a donation. He urged the farmers to devote their full attention and energy to the health and growth of the animals to ensure massive productivity. The MCE noted that the success of this specific project would serve as a powerful testament to the municipality’s hard work. He highlighted that by showing a high level of seriousness and zeal, Obuasi East would be positioned as a priority candidate for future government agricultural programs and expanded support systems.

This training marks a critical step in the Assembly’s mission to foster self-reliance and economic growth within the local agricultural sector. With the knowledge gained from the veterinary experts, the beneficiary farmers are now ready to turn these birds into a sustainable source of income and food security for the entire municipality.
