Deputy Minister for Local Government service visits Obuasi East District Assembly

The deputy minister from the ministry of Local Government and Development Service conducted a visit to the Obuasi East District assembly on the 9th of August 2024 to assess the current status of developmental policies and projects. Hon. Faustina Amissah, the District Chief Executive, extended an official welcome to the minister and his team, focusing on detailing the completed, ongoing, and abandoned projects. She specifically requested assistance from the minister in locating the contractors who have left their positions, particularly for projects such as the Administration block, Agenda 111 project, and various roads in poor condition. Moreover, there was a plea for additional staff within the Agricultural Department, Environmental Department, and Procurement Unit.

 

In response, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assaffuah, the Deputy Minister, acknowledged the challenges and outlined several government initiatives aimed at addressing these issues. He highlighted efforts such as providing equipment and vehicles for road maintenance, as well as tackling challenges faced by entities like zoomlion. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of having competent personnel responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of these resources to ensure they effectively serve the community and the nation. The DCE reiterated the need for the district to attain municipality status and expressed gratitude to the ministry for spearheading this endeavor.
