Hon. Alfred Fosu Donkor, the Assembly Member for the Kwabrafoso West Electoral Area has been re-elected as the Presiding Member of the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly for the second time.
Hon. Fosu Donkor secured 21 votes representing 70% of the total votes cast whilst Hon. Samuel Aboagye, Assembly Member for the Mampamhwe/Domeabra Electoral Area his contender had 7 votes.
The election was smoothly conducted by the Electoral Commission led by the Municipal Electoral Officer, Joseph Owusu Gyamfi.
Her Worship Eugenia Adubea Fordjour, the District Court Magistrate sworn the Presiding Member elect into office. He sworn two (2) Oaths; Official Oath and Oath of Secrecy.
Hon. Alfred Fosu Donkor, speaking after his endorsement thanked the Assembly Members for their trust and confidence reposed in him for the second time. He pledged his commitment to providing inclusive leadership and bringing all stakeholders on board to execute the development agenda of the Assembly.
He again promised to lead the process to ensure the equitable distribution of projects to all the electoral areas in the Municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu on his part thanked the Assembly Members for their mandatory role played in fulfillment of the Local Government Act 936 and the peaceful way they conducted themselves during the election.
He then called on the Assembly Members and other stakeholders to put their shoulders on the wheel as the Assembly rolled out various policies, programs and projects to transform the lives of the people of Obuasi East.
