Following the unfortunate fire outbreak that gutted a section of the boys’ dormitory at Christ the King Catholic Senior High School (CKC) on the evening of Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has stepped in with significant relief packages to relieve the dilemma of the affected students.
The disaster left 32 students with nothing but their school uniforms they were wearing at evening study prep, completely destroying their personal belongings, books, bedding, and daily necessities.
Responding swiftly to the crisis, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu visited the school campus to hand over the relief items directly to the affected boys. Describing the tragic event as a deeply unfortunate incident that took the entire municipality by surprise, the MCE offered warm words of comfort and reassurance to the emotional gathering of students and school administrators.
“What happened here is truly regrettable, but I want to encourage you all not to lose focus on your academic goals,” Hon. Adzowu stated during the presentation. “These items are presented to replace what was lost to the flames and to give you peace of mind so you can concentrate fully on your studies.”
In his address, the MCE also highlighted the critical importance of safety awareness within school halls, cautioning the student body against using unauthorized electrical appliances and illegal wiring connections to prevent future occurrences.
To ensure the affected students can comfortably return to their normal daily routines without academic interruption, the Assembly provided a comprehensive set of replacement items, including, High-quality metal trunks and wooden chop boxes, Student mattresses and durable buckets, Assorted toiletries and essential provisions for daily upkeep and new sets of school uniforms.
The intervention brought immense relief to the beneficiaries, many of whom had been relying on the kindness of classmates for daily attire and supplies over the past week.
Expressing deep gratitude on behalf of his fellow victims, Phillip Kyei, one of the affected students, praised the MCE for his swift, fatherly response:
“God bless our MCE so much for thinking of us so quickly. His gesture truly proves that he is a father for all,” Kyei shared. “Since the fire, we have had to borrow clothes from friends just to attend classes and assemblies. But with this timely support, all those struggles are now a thing of the past.”
School authorities also expressed their sincere appreciation to Hon. William Kofi Adzowu and the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly for their commitment to the welfare and educational stability of students within the municipality.
